A Note From Vincent Carlson-Brown

We have already received positive feedback about both plays as we work through our audition circuit, meeting people for the first time who are 'dying' to be a part of this summer's offerings. We conclude auditions in Omaha on February 2nd and 3rd, and look forward to assembling a stellar cast from across the nation to be a part of what will prove to be a fun and energetic season.
Nebraska Shakespeare has grown from its 'On the Green' roots to establish education and artistic events throughout the entire year. We are excited to announce a new partner for our 3rd annual Shakespeare on The Silver Screen series: NET Radio and Television. NET will help us present Shakespeare Uncovered , an in-depth series of documentaries that explore Shakespeare's life and plays, hosted by leading actors and scholars in the field. We will show the film adaptation of Twelfth Night (1996), featuring Helena Bonham Carter and Ben Kingsley, followed by Julie Taymor's Titus (1999) with Anthony Hopkins and Jessica Lange. These two evenings will give a preview to our summer in addition to providing insight and discussion led by D. Scott Glasser, UNO Theatre Deptartment Chair, and professor of Shakespeare and Film Interpretation . We will conclude with two episodes from Shakespeare Uncovered : The Comedies , hosted by Joely Richardson and Macbeth , hosted by Ethan Hawke.
This year, Sarah Carlson-Brown has been brought on as Director of Education and will be presenting a number of education opportunities throughout the year. These include the return of Camp Shakespeare, our two week summer event where students, ages 8-18, are able to work with Nebraska Shakespeare artists and instructors to learn and perform Shakespeare’s works; the 16th Annual Anne Dittrick Sonnet Writing Contest; Scholars Forums On The Green; the continuation of our new Director's Reading Series, this year featuring King John ; and a fully-produced presentation of Twelfth Night that will tour through Nebraska and Iowa this fall.
We are looking forward to seeing you as we kick-off our year. Stay tuned.
